best tuning chip or programer

whats the best performance chip overall. ive heard troyer custom tuning is pretty good and ive also heard a lot about the edge is also good (i like the way it mounts on the truck).

also what would be a good CAI and Exhaust. i was thinking about just taking the exhaust off from the cat back.

If your looking at getting all three done at the same time then look into troyer. He has pachages with all three and his tunes are as solid as they come. The edge is nice and the guages are helpful but also if you have enough funds look into the livewire from SCT. ITs also able to hold custom tunes from troyer and he also sells them The live wire is just like the edge except with a few more guages.

I like my edge and am satisfied with it. The down fall is if you plan on doing any work past CAI and Cat back. The edge wont work after that.

With the edge you cant put cams or bigger throttle body. All teat mechanical stuff that changes to much. The "canned" tuners like hypertech, edge, superchips, bullydog pup, or others all are the same. Troyer can tune for each of the changes you make in the future. If you plan on just doing an intake and exhast then they will all work. After that no matter who or what you chose to go with its guna need a custom tune.

Here is the web site to troyers stuff. I dont know your model of f150 so i wont giv eyou the link but if your planing on getting an exhast intake and tuner then i would look into his stage 1 packages. If i had to do it all over again i would do it this way.

http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...pedition%20Etc.

Here is a link to the page. Just find your year and model i nthe stage one and see if thats what your looking for. He tells what gains you should see at hte bottom of the page. What kind of truck do you ahve anyways?

The Edge doesnt tune for Cai and catback either so there is a chance you may run lean.

I Disagree. THe only way i have heard of it running lean is with a 3.5 AF1 and thats it. And to boot that was on the newer 04+ ones. Im sure if yo uran that big of an intake on a pre 04 it would but i havn't heard of anyone trying. I have a cai and exhast and mine runs just like it should.

actually on the 04+, most intakes by themselves run the engine lean. the Airriad and AF1 3" dont. but the edge is a canned tune for a stock truck, it doesn't correct the A/Fs for the increased airflow of an aftermarket CAI.

to the OP, the *best* tune, as far as both power and safety of your truck, is a custom tune no doubt.

Yea, If your spending the money to buy an edge you should really look into custom threads on here. I love my edge in my 05 fx4, takes down my buddy's 99 silverado and he's got a diablo in it.(not even a close race)

Agreed!!

The best would be a custom tune but the edge will work with above specs. Just wont be using them to the best of abilitys.
