Need a good Tuner?

I have a 2005 F150 with a 4.6 V8 with 3:55 gears & 2WD, I'm getting 33" Mud Tires on my truck and I think it is going to kill my performance & Gas Mileage. I really dont want to re-gear and deal with all that crap so can I get a list of the best tuners/ programers for my truck.

Well I did a lot of research and I read a lot about Edge being bad. Is this true? I really want a Tuner that I can mount on my Dash and have control right at my fingertips! I dont want a big thing atatched to a cord laying on my truck floor (This is what Troyer looked like). If I am wrong please correct me. I dont mind spending up to $700 on a new tuner/programer. ANY HELP PLEASE!!!

with the xcal2 (what troyer and other custom tuners use) you simple hook the module up once, load your tunes, then unhook it. the tunes are saved on your pcm, and you can put the actual module back into the box untill you want to switch tunes again. then you simply recconect it, load your other tune (or stock tune) then put it away again. it doesnt need to be connected all the time...how lame would that be???

If you dont mind spending $700 on a tuner why would you mind spending $1200 for gears???

I dont want to deal with changing my gears, reprograming my truck, having to deal with the a**holes over at Ford (and I didnt want to spend more than $700). I would Rather just buy a Tuner and hope for the best. SCTflash seems to be a good company. Which would be better the XCAL2 or 3 or the Livewire?

If you want one mounted and want SCT then get the Livewire which has a mount although I'm not sure if it's as smooth as the Edge mount as far as looks. I didn't want anything mounted so I went Xcal2 and have it stored in my truck in case I get stuck with less than 93 octane somewhere. It's only like the size of your hand so it stores almost anywhere. The SCT programmers seem the most flexible since you can basically order up any tune from any of the top tuners. Also I don't think you will spend more than about $400 with tunes unless prices have gone up dramatically in the last few months.

To me Edge makes the best canned tune out there for a STOCK truck. I had to sell mine because I was running lean after the cai and catback. A custom tune is the only way to go.

$700 would almost pay for the new gears (that you don't want) installed. I'm pretty sure that would get you more than any tuner could, especially if you're going to taller tires. I went from 3.55 to 4.10 a few years ago. My 4.6 really woke up. I didn't burn any more fuel either.

Well if I wont burn anymore gas then I would totally go for the 4.10's but will it void my warranty and wont I have to reset my computer and everything? And how much exactly will it cost for everything including programing the spedo?

$700? Where are you getting your tuner from, hypertech? You can get an Xcal ll for $425 from Troyer with a discount for being a member of this site. If you get the dash hawk with it, then yeah, your looking at $700.
