SCT Xcal2 !

Just got back from getting my XCal-2 unlocked and programmed for my 04 F-150, we set it on the 87 Octane performance tune, about a 10 mile drive home, can't really tell a difference in it and stock !

Whose tunes?

Aside from adaptive needing time, you should be noticing immediate shifting improvments, and WOT shifting near 5,400 rpm now on the 1>2. If not, the tunes are not right.

As for power, 87 may not be a noticeable improvement depending on the calibration of your butt dyno. That's why real dynos exist. 6,000lb truck, y'know....

Got a 93 oct tune to try?

The tunes are just SCT's canned tunes, my truck is factory stock right now, I did get a 93 Octane performance tune on it, but two problems, I have a tank full of 87, and Utah is higher altitude, we don't have 93 Octane gas up here !

Ah - roger that!

The 'generic' SCT canned tune templates, while safe, are not anywhere near optimal and won't unleash the capabilities a full-on custom Xcal2 tune will....

Any chance you can get a local SCT tuner to provide a custom tune - isn't Bama around those parts?

So - how's the shifting? That, at least should be better.

Bama is down in the Southern States, no custom tuners in this area that I'm aware of, I know you can change some of the parameters on the SCT yourself, but I'm not sure what to change them to !

You have choices ... you can (a) ask the fella that provided those tunes, (B) call SCT's tech support for some help, or (c) list all the modifiable parameters you have access to on here, and we'll look 'em over for ya!

We'll need specifics on your truck as well.

WEll, I just went out and played with it a bit, the gear ratio wasn't set to 3:73, I reset it and took it for a short drive and could tell an immediate difference in it, so now I'm wondering if any of the other parameters are set right ! HELP !

Are you familar with the X-Cal ? There are parameters for sdjusting shift points at different RPM's, and settings for tire revolutions per minute, all kinds of stuff, and it didn't come with a manual of any kind to know where to set it at !

Ok - here's the stuff you can potentially modify - depending on who set this up for you and your vehicle, some of these may be restricted in adjustment range or not available at all ...

User Adjustable Feature:

Fuel Adjustment - leave alone!
Spark Adjustment -leave alone!
Read / Clear OBD-II Trouble Codes - a given
Axle Ratio Selection - enter your ratio
MAF Meter Selection - stock
Tire Size Selection - measure your circumference & enter
Fuel Injector Size Selection - stock ( 04+ 5.4 3V = 24lbs)
Idle RPM - stock - your call - ~725 rpm
Cooling Fan On / Off Temperature n/a
Disable Traction Control - n/a
Two Step On / Off RPM - n/a
Automatic Shift Control - 1>2 = 5400, 2>3=5300, 3>4=4800 ; for shift firmness, play & see what feels best for you - don't overdo it!

For fuel & spark, you really want to get a custom tune for full optimization - do NOT guess at these!!!
