1999 f150 4.6 w/edge evolution

i just installed my edge chip and am currently running level 2 w/ 87 octane. what kind of gains will i get if i go to 89 octane on level 2? and if i run 87 octane on level 3 which it says not to do what will happen? What level setting and octane will i see the best gas mileage improvement? thanks alot

Baaaaad things !!!

For everything else? Search... Or ask any AC from GD

Minimal gains from a 2-point octane increase ... (you'll need to bump up timing to match) ....except in the area of shift improvements...

Best - 93 octane, either L2 or L3, depending on what yer truck likes best.

Reason - BSFC goes down as the ability to advance (without detonation), goes up - simplistic answer ....

You might get a little more power with 89 if you increase the timing accordingly. Don't run level 3 with 87.....it's setup to have at least 91...you would have to retard the timing and thats not worth doing. Other people say level 3 with 91+ octane gave them the best mileage, but my best mileage has been 93 octane with level 2 and the timing advanced. It's honestly all how you drive though, but I still get better mileage with level 2.
