Xcal1 or Xcal2?

I just put some 33's on my 05. I really only want my speedo corrected along with the shift points. I saw that Superchips has a tirepack program that only does tire size changes but around $50 more I can get an Xcal1 from Troyer.

I want to keep this as cheap as possible but I don't want to think later down the road I should have spent more money to begin with and got a better tuner. So the question is the Xcal2 worth the extra coin over the Xcal1? If so why?
Also keep in mind that I'm not looking to get maximum power, I will never run anything higher than 87 octane, so I would just be running and 87 performance and possible 87 tow tune and not sure what to do with the 3rd tun option.

Thanks much

Hi.

Sorry for the delay ... been busy posting nonsense & dealing with a dorkinitis outbreak lol....

Xcal1 - end-of-life product & a good deal while they last.

It will hold the same custom tunes as the Xcal2, but it will not work on the newest trucks, and you cannot datalog with it, nor make adjustments to the tuning, nor read/clear trouble codes.

If none of that is important to you and you view it as simply a very capable gear/shift point corrector, with no plans to migrate it to a newer vehicle, then go for it.

You need to be pretty certain you aren't going down the mod/perf route.

You can buy one tune & just load and forget.

This stuff never stays still for long anyway - I can assure you the Xcal2 will be in the same predicament eventually lol.

Good luck.

No, that's good info... and it underscores my point. Even the Xcal2 went through a version change (backlit screen added).

More functionality for the same cost is great....
