My Edge windshield placement

I have been waiting for my buddy to return my heat gun and finally got it back.

I mounted my edge as show in the picture vs sitting on the dash. We will see what the Texas summer sun does to the velcro tape but we are having rain AGAIN all week.

Anyways, I like it so far.

Any thoughts?

No. While driving I can still see over the AS|7 mark on the windshield. Actually I can see a decent amount above it. I wish I would have had a better background so your could see theAS|7 mark in the front view but with the rain, I was under the carport.

I bought a OBDII extension cable (M-F) but didn't even have to use it for the install. Te original cable fit perfect. If it was in the middle of the windshield, near the rearview, an ext would be neccessary.

That looks really good! Is that accessory arm made for the Edge or is it something else that you modified to work for this application? I have been looking for something similar.

This is my first post on this site, I was waiting until I built my gallery before I started posting, but had to respond when I saw the way you mounted the Edge.

I got it from ebay:
170144053979 ($7.00 shipped with a square velcro tape tab)

It originally looked like this:

I used my heat gun to bend the flat plate 90 degrees since it was originally about 4 inches long. I used my cut off wheel on the Dremel to remove about 1 to 1.25 inches for a ledge. I then used the wire wheel to deburr and smooth out the cut edges.

I bet you'll have to switch over to 3m tape. I had my edge mounted with velcro and it didn't take very long for the sun to take effect.

Here's some pics of my setup with a bullydog bracket.

I really like that mount as well. I just wanted mine up top and the windshield mirror mount was too long for where I wanted it.

If it does end up heating and releasing, I have a idea to make a sort of plastic J clamp using the display's edge to hold it.

Very creative man, I like the placement. Seems to me like it would be really easy to view while driving

Just as a note since I had someone msg me regarding this mount, I never had the velcro give out on me. Stood the Texas summer sun and held like a champ. I wonder if you had some cheaper tape. The velcro square that came with my mount was 3M branded. I also prepped the sufaces with alcohol.

That's really cool! Nice option instead of the dash pod. You should be buying them in bulk and selling them.
