what performance chip to use

I would like to add some hp and torque to my 2001 F150 4.2l V6. What can I do besides a superchip, which by the way they no longer do them for this model? I want to keep the cost down so any ideas would be helpful. I have added a K&N filter so far. Thanks!!

Hi.

You have choices.... http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...uning%3BFoMoCo

Give them a call to discuss. I would choose a flash programmer (e.g Xcal2) over a chip; much more flexible.

TP can custom-tune your truck, no problem.

Good luck.

Is this an expensive way to get what I need? I know the superchip costs 233.00.

Yes, it's more.

However, the Superchip holds only one tune - and you must use 91 oct or more. To update the tune, you need to send it back in.

Flash devices hold several tunes - and some (as is the case with the Xcal2 f'rinstance) can be updated online.

Finally - consider that custom tuning will net you significantly more gains than any 'canned' tune.

As I said - just call them. Their website also still lists the #1100 single tune chip - so they may still be able to supply one, if you insist on this option to save $.

BTW - how many more threads are you gonna start asking the same question??? LOL!

6600 chip

The 6600 chip holds 3 tunes that u can interchange as well as the stock tune. I have it and it works well. Only chip I would go with. Next step up is a tuner.
