Which programmer for searching trans gears!

Since the 6/3 lift install & running on 35" mudds w/ 373 gears my trans seems to be searching for a gear more radically then before. Aside from a gear swap (the obvious thing to do) Will a programmer help and which do you members recomend.

Are they all pretty much idiot proof , Ive never used one before how bad if so is it possible for me to screw the truck up more NOT knowing anything about these things.

Again which is best for my 2004 F150 s/crew 5.4 stock motor w/ 373 gears.

i don't thinka tuner is gonna help you much at all, i've had hypertech and am currently running an xcal2 I would recomend an Xcal2 or diablo with a custom tune in order to help your truck out

searching for a gear as in the converter locking and unlocking or it downshifts or upshifts all the time? basic hand held programmers can firm up shift points. and extend them but cant do much for converter lock schedules or shift timing. like taj said ud need a SCT Diablo or Sniper.
