I would say that efans would be a great mod. The install is not hard but not quite easy either. If you know how to turn a wrench and how to follow directions you should be fine. Troyer has a set up for our trucks that is getting good reviews now that tehy fixed a few things on it.

Thats the link to troyers set up. He explains gains and install a little more in depth.

Its going to be the next thing i get and i have the same three you have.

Im really not sure what to do. I would like to buy the Troyer kit because it's a all in 1 kit so it would make things easier to buy BUT it seems like people have been having troubles with it so idk what to do. Is there any warranty on it?

Electric fans gave me almost another mile per gallon but I didn't really feel a performance gain. I have the FAL270 they claim like 17 hp. IMO it's more like 10. The fans are nice but don't expect neck snapping performance.

Fal270

I second the Flex A Lite fans. I did notice a little better acceleration when I put them on but that was with stock tires and I have much larger ones now. I have had the fans over 2 years with no problems just mount the controller in a location away from hear and moisture.

All they can claim is from the removal of the clutch fan. After that, the efans do nothing for performance. That is easy to test, just remove the clutch fan and drive around, as long as it is nice and cold outside already, never in the summer time. These V8s generate serious heat, so choose your efan approach wisely.

I'd do the UDP's (under drive pulley's) before I would do electric fans. I have had great luck with other UDP's on other ford vehicles, with mileage, performance, and just overall driveability gains

would agree with this..put u/d pulleys on my Mustang in Redding CA with summer temps in the 110's and had no problems with overheating and they made an improvement on performance

Too low!!!

Straight from the troyer web site.

Gasoline engines make their absolute highest power output and get the best fuel mileage when the engine coolant temperature is in the 210 degree range. We recommend using a 192 degree-rated thermostat (just like your original factory thermostat is rated for). If you are doing any kind racing, or if you need to tow heavy loads frequently in extremely hot weather and want to drop down to a 180 degree thermostat, you can set the turn-on temps accordingly as described in our installation instructions - you have that additionally flexibility already built into this kit (though we recommend using this kit exactly as we describe). Whatever you do, DO NOT use any thermostat rated lower than 180 degrees in these computer-controlled vehicles, or you will not make the best power & fuel mileage, and may even experience driveability symptoms, MIL lights on the dash & loss of heater function in cold weather, etc.

I think most are setting them to come on at 220.

The efans have another advantage in that they enhance the performance of the A/C system making it blow much cooler.

efan question

Im towing a 7500-8000 pound travel trailer about 6 times this summer. Some of the trips will be as short as1.5 hours and as long as 7 hours. Most of this towing will be through mountains in northern penn and parts of NY state. My edge says the alarm for engine coolant levels are set at 230, I have made it get as hot as 222 degrees pulling up tall mountains. Am im still in a pretty safe range a far as coolant temps? I have thought of adding efans and a stacked tranny cooler from troyer to protect from heat even more. I figured i would add the underdrive pulleys also since they help with the efans. Anyone expereince big advantages with the stacked tranny cooler on troyers site compared to the stock tranny cooler thats allready on the truck? Thanks for any input.
