It dependsw on what you want. From what i have read the Xcal2 will give you features that you dont have with the other. THings like adjustment to idle and reading DTC's

WIth the other though i think you can change tunes on the fly. Like as in you flip a swich and its done. The xcal2 you cant.

There are benifits to both. Read what mike has ot say about them on his website. Way more info then i have.

I too have been trying to make the choice and i think im guna go with the Xcal2 cuase i know ill just leave it on the performance tune anyways

You can't change tunes on the fly with a gas motor, that can only be done on a deisel.

And bingo. I found it. THis is copy and pasted straight from TP's web site.

This is the ultimate performance chip - not only for the older EEC4 applications, but also for addressing all 4 banks of the newer EEC-V PCM's. This chip gives you more programs - 4 different custom tunes as well as your original factory stock tuning, for a total of 5 programs! All 5 programs are available "on the fly," selected by simply turning the attached program selector **** to the program you want, instantly.

This chip is perfect for everything from the 7.3L Powerstroke diesel owner who needs numerous different power levels and types of tunes ranging from stock, to max power for towing full loads, or even our "Extreme" tunes for all-out maximum power when not towing, to the gas engine owner with either normally aspirated or supercharged applications, nitrous oxide, to you name it - even a bone-stock vehicle - this chip can do it all.

HEres the link if you want to see your self.

I mean it talks about diesels, but it also says for gas engines.

I've been wrong before, but in this case, I think it may be a typo, or TP needs to clarify more.

All of my smarts tells me that hes right. My unckle works for bully dog tech. and i have asked him years ago why we couldn't change on the fly. He told me once but i forgot. And that wasn't to many years ago.

Troyer says it can be done and i would tend to lean on his side. As strong as i sound i reawlly do doubt if its correct.

Only in a cool world would i be ably to run a gas saver program and pull up to someone at a light and flip on the fly to a performance tune and let them have it.

In that world all i would see would be ........

I really wish i would have waited and went with the Xcal2. But i was in to much of a hurry. THeres nothing wrong with the edge. It just has limits for my ideas in the future. Now im stuck buying to tuners.
