Edge custom tune question....

Hello everyone,

Im thinking about adding an EDGE Evolution to my 2006 5.4 supercrew. My question is, what are all of your thoughts on using one of the (3) levels that come with the edge...or....a custom tune...which is better. Would I be satisfied with a level one or two? (really dont want to pay for high octane gas in level 3)

I dont do much with my truck...mainly a daily driver. I have a 2" autospring and 35's.

What do you all think?

matt

Obviously a custom tune is better BUT the edge is great for a "canned" tune. You can adjust for your bigger tires along with all sorts of other things. Level 2 will give you enough snap for you to enjoy it but I bet after awhile you would be forking up a few more dollars to enjoy level 3.

Just my .02

TIs awsome as far as canned tuners go. Youll love it. I would go with it. I will never go back to not having any tuner.

I got my Edge about a 6 months ago and am in love with it. I just run level 2 and it's still enough fun. I've got a K&N intake and Banks Monster exhaust and I can put down a 0-60 in the 7.6s in level 2. I'm to much a chicken to custom tune since I still am under factory warranty with my truck.

Just wait till you modify the shift points and the shift pressure! I use a customized level 2 around town and a customized level 3 on the highway. Would be devastated to have to run stock.

BlueJay,
What sort of change to the shift points and pressure do you set? I might consider raising the shift pressure to get harder shifts. I enjoy having to use my headrest for reasons other than what it was designed for!

For pressure on shifts 1 and 2, I have run as firm as 16, been running 12 for a long time. Shift pressure on the third shift is at 9. Shift points are at 5250, 5250, 4800, WOT Fuel is 1.6, Max RPM is 5650.

I run 93 octane, so I add +1. Have even run +1.5 as an experiment, but keep it on +1.
