Getting gas while installing tune..woops & a question for Mike

So today I was filling up with 91 to try out the 91 perf tune from Troyer. I figured I would install the tune while the truck was filling up. Well at about half tank the PCM reset and then the 91 perf tune started to load. So now I've got a full tank but the gauge is reading half.... :o
At any rate I can wait till almost empty and reset again, but I would rather know if there is a way to recal the fuel gauge with the XCAL2 or any other suggegstions you all might have.

Thanks

This has been talked about a bunch of times. It either did it because the key was on and will reset itself or some vapor problem if I remember correctly and will slowly go up until full.

If the key is "on" at the time of fill up, the needle will slowly raise. Once the truck is turned off and back on, it should go up to full at that time. I think I remember reading somewhere this happens if more than 6 gallons is added. Hope this helps.

I talked to a Ford mechanic that Ford allows up to 55 minutes for the gauge to respond fully after refilling, this is part of the anti-slosh strategy. The fuel guage sensor will learn how much fuel is really in the tank without the fuel sloshing around and causing false readings.

Fill-up at a 1/4 tank and it won't happen

Exactly. I've found that if I run the tank to near empty, the needle takes a while to show full again after a fillup. Filling up around a 1/4 tank seems to solve the problem.
