06 Edge Evolution tuning for towing

I just installed the Edge Evolution.I have a 06 FX4 5.4 an run 91 octane at 4500 feet a s l. I am towing a 4500lb boat. I cant seem to find a setting that will pull ..it seems everything i try just makes it worse. I can usually get up the steep grade of my hill at around 25 - 30 mph but had to stop and put it in lo 4x4 to get up tonite .... is it my settings or have i destroyed my transmission

I had it in custom and only adjusted shift, wheel size and shift point. can anyone give me a clue..... before i cash in my money back garrantee

What were you running. You might have messed up your shift points. GIve us more info. Have you trued it in their programs and pulled the same hill?

The one thing i see is WOT is set to 1.31. I know that most people are setting that to upwards of 1.55-1.60. Thats where im running. You might want to change that.

U said that you were running 91 octane fuel but havn't adjusted for it in your timing. WHat level are you running. If its 2 then bump the timing up 2.0. That will help.

The manual states that for every octane you should move the timing +.5. SO if the tune was for 87 and your running 91 you should move it +2.0.

If your running level 3 then you are wrong for towing in it. Never tow in a performance tune. THere is a reason there is a tow tune. What level you running?

YOu are right i am a skier. Big time LOL! YOu can reset your settings at any time to whatever you want. I wouldn't know much about your shift points but your WOT was low. Yo unever told me what tune you had it set for.

As far as gears go. What axel code do you have? that is how you tell. ITs in your driver door sticker.

19 = 3.55 open
H9 = 3.55 LSD
26 = 3.73 open
B6 = 3.73 LSD
27 = 3.31 open
18 = 3.08 open
25 = 4.10 open
B5 = 4.10 LSD

the axle code will be one of those.

If i were you i would retune your truck to a costome tune.

I would make it as follows

Level 2

WOT 160

Timing +2.0

And i would leave all the shift points alone for now.

See how that does. Cant go wrong with there tuning as far as the shift points.

I never got to do any skiing in helana. HOw you like owning a ski shop. Has to be a dream. LOL

I will have to look that up. I will be for a bit. Let me know how it worked. Wakeboarding is somethign that i want to try bad. Me and a couple of buddys were drinking to much one day and took one of the kmart snowboards and tied some milk jugs to it and tried. That was a secne if i say so myself. LOL

Dont give up on the edge yet.

There is a ton of people that know and love it on here and would be glad to help.

Me included.

Yes. Every time you change something you need to put those settings in. I would write them down or something. Are you in level three?

How long have you had your edge?

I have mine set for level 2. I do a ton of driving in town and i like the low end torque it gives me. I have advanced the timing to run 91 octane and i get more MPG's that way. I have a manuel tranny so i dont have to mess with the shift Point. LOL! Thats where things get funny.
