Superchips 1714

Hey guys. I have a 2004 Screw with a 5.4 3V. I recently came to possess a Superchips 1714. I really do like it, but need some advice about tweaking shift points and firmness. I used the Superchips settings, but have read that there is more improvement to be had.
I'm running the 91 octane performance tune.

Suggestions?

This has been answered many, many times.

Briefly - leave firmness alone; bump up the 2>3 shift point 2 notches.

Try using Search for complete details - it's all there. Gotta go - no time. Sorry.

Hi dixief150,

In those 2004 F-150's using the 1714 unit, you can actually just leave it alone pretty much.

If you want all you can get, bump the WOT upshift points to 54400 on the 1-2 and 5300 on the 2-3, but NO higher than that - and do that ONLY on the "performance" tune, do NOT do that on any "towing" type of tune, OK?

Thanks for your post & have fun!

Here's some self-help.

http://www.superchips.com/products.p...ax+MicroTuners

So... no - you'd need a #1745. Which of course is discontinued - replaced by the 18xx series.

Search is dead. Long live spoon-feeding LOL!

Cheers

A recommendation. If you don't want to constructively answer questions and only wish to steer folks to the search function, who incidentally have already used it and didn't find the information they were looking for, why don't you just refrain from responding at all. All you do is waste time and posting space with your ridiculous and insignificant commentary.
The spoon feeding to which you refer is commonly called assistance or help by those who lack your pomposity.

Thanks for the advice, but I don't understand the 54400 and 5300 thing. I don't see that on my tuner. Sorry to be a pain, but can you elaborate?

Thanks.

It's RPM, buckwheat.

RTFM.

But... if you'd used the Search function, you'd know all that LOL!

BTW, Alice ... a recommendation to use Search, that also includes a useful link or two (as is usually my practice - check my post), is by no means useless. Sure beats typing out the same old crap a hundred times, eh?

And, you'll notice that I conveniently answered Hi V's question. Wow... perhaps I shouldn't have. Too helpful, for ya, huh?

Just an FYI.

Oh...here's a little recommendation for you: go buy some new panties, yours appear to be all knotted up

Cheers
Bubba

Used the search function, but couldn't find anything on buckwheat, RTFM, LOL, BTW, Alice, etc.

Thanks, Shirley. Once again, the search function didn't help. The RPM reference netted no gain as I don't seem to have that option on the tuner.

Wow. You're 1-0.

Really? Been stickin' your nose in inappropriate places?

.........and now I'm guilty of exactly the same useless banter as you.

Therefore, I digress.

Ah... nothing wrong with your intelligence - don't beat yourself up so badly

The problem is, simply, your inexperience using Search.

Example: RTFM - here ya go:

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...6&postcount=17

See - it really does work!

Now - try again... little practice goes a long way.

You can do it!

OK - now that all the BS is aside -on to your question.

According to the 1714 manual I looked at on the Superchips site just now, the WOT shift point units are in MPH, not RPM.

So, I'd then surmise that a little experimentation would be in order, to see what WOT MPH increase results in those RPM's. Bear in mind that the factory tach is a laggard, so beware. I'd use the cluster self-test RPM function instead. and baby steps on the increases.

But, I think the safest way is simply to collect the tire circumference, tranny ratios, rear-end ratio, etc, & crunch the numbers for each gear to arrive at RPM=MPH figures. And then just plug those in.

Or, as mentioned, you could just leave it as is.

Good luck.

Cheers
Bubba
