Are the hp, and mpg gains worth the price of the Edge Evolution?

At what I paid ($320). Yes. At the prices now you can get an x-cal2 and feel that much better than everyone.

Yes, I think its worth it. I used to rarely get 15mpg but now Im at about 18 highway and 15 mixed(my other mods are helping this too)...and not to mention this truck is now fun to drive....I used to be affraid to pass because of the lack of power but now when I stomp on the gas I get thrown back in the seat. You also get the display to watch different things. (Engine coolant temp,Cylinder head temp, engine load, battery voltage,Instant gas milage, average gas milage, speed,RPM etc.)I like to have my instant gas milage on the dispaly so I can see what speeds I get the best milage at. I don't think you will be dissapointed.

Hi.

What I'd recommend is for you to spend some quality time using the search function and reading the wealth of info here.

I think you'll find your own answer.

Then decide.

Cheers
Bubba

PS - Xcal2 here, but just because I prefer dead-nuts-on custom tuning & performance over bling - lol.

my buddy seems to think you can adjust your own timing in 1 degree incremints and adjust your own a/f ratio 1 point at a time from your drivers seat whenever you want... It doesn't sound safe to me, I told him my chip was the same as his and you can't do this... any input? I know you can email them a wideband and have them email you a tune that can run you rich or lean or advance or retard timing in any increment at any rpm... but for him to argue with me that you can made me want to laugh thanks guys!

he has the edge evo I believe... I don't think any programmer lets you do that from the drivers seat without a laptop or something hooked up, he thinks it can with just the little programmer screen up on the a-pillar...

and how can you gauge this % increases? I don't think it's even richening the a/f a point, is it in percentages of a point? I suppose he can increase /decrease his a/f in percentages of a point... but to think he can adjust it to like 8:1 or 15:1 doesn't sound logical or possible his motor would either sieze or blow imo if he could/did move it that much...

The EDGE Evo does NOT allow you to change air/fuel ratio, the only adjustment to fuel you can make is to add fuel at WOT. Timing can be adjusted with the Evo. You can change your settings from the driver's seat alright, just not while driving or with the engine running.

so how many degree's can you advance the timing? can you up it say 8 points if you're running race fuel 100+ octane? or more than that? I don't know how safe it is to do it, but would the chip/ecu also retard the timing and override the settings you did if you're knocking? or do you have to manually listen for yourself? to control it, and let off the gas if you get it or something? I'd imagine if you can adjust it alot guys should be doing 12's with race fuel NA and advancing timing amongst bolt on's...

Nothing you can do to alter the PCM pulling out timing if the knock sensing system detects detonation. You may not even hear it doing so - it's that good, and your ears are a very poor tool to set timing on these engines.

I'll take both. .

I've had the Edge for a LONG TIME, in two vehicles. 2004 F-150 and my 2006 F-150. Now I'm having my truck dyno tuned on Wednesday with an Xcal2. I just installed a S&B CAI and don't want to run lean. Happy now MGD Fan? I'm going to have the gun run it with the Edge and I'll post up my findings in a seperate thread.

www.VMPTuning.com It's $525 including the Xcal2 which I think is pretty fair.

They are about 2 minutes away from my work and I didn't even know about them until a friend in California told me that he was having them do his tuning. So hopefully that says something. Black 3V made about a 4 hour drive to let them tune his truck. The owner's wife has a 2000 or 2001 Mustang V6 thats running 10s in the 1/4 mile! . . and he's got a Shelby GT500. Black 3V and I got to see him tune a 2003 Cobra which put down about 600 hp. Pretty cool stuff. I can't wait to see what kind of numbers my tires are robbing me!!

Good choice.

Justin is a very knowledgable and helpful fellow over on SCT's forum.

Good luck - interested in your feedback. Thanks.
