Using Edge with 87 octane on all 3 levels?
Don't know why you would even consider running Level 3 with 87. When I run Level 3 with 93, I get about 12% better gas mileage, than on Level 2 with 87. That pays for the difference in cost. I run Level 2 aruond town for the low end torque and run Level 3 with 93 on trips for the higher end responsiveness. Obviously, if you were running Level 3 with 87, you would need to back the timing off 2 points.

elevation could factor into his timing change also, I think it's like +.5 for every 2500ft above sea level, so depending where he is he could have to back it off more or less, I know I ran alot higher timing (+1.5 L3 w/ 91) when I lived in golden as opposed to montana (+.5 L3 w/ 91)

or you could leave the timing alone and increase WOT fuel to 1.6 and you will get more performance, better milage and no ping. When I first went to level 2 and did a 0-60 test I had a pretty good detonation. That was from lean conditions. Not timing. I bumped the WOT fuel to 1.6 and have had no problems since. And yes, bumping WOT fuel increases fuel before WOT. Not at cruise or partial throttle.

. Truck pings like a SOB on level 2 with a load without bumping the timing down -1.

When you guys say increat wot to 1.6 you mean 160 right. When im done my custom settings on level 2 mine starts at 120 and i increase to 150, havent tried 160 yet. Also when you speak about detenation and ping, im not sure how to listen for that, I know that the 97-03 2v engines always have a light knock to them which is supposed to be the cam phasers or something.I recent went through 2 tanks of 89 octane on level 2 with customizing wot to 150 and wot shifts to 5200 1-3 and 4800 3-4 and bumped the timing up to +1.0 and shift firmness +4 +4 +2 and along with all my mods i really felt the truck ran slow and doggie.I just switched back to 87 and only adjusted wot to 150 and shift firmness +2 +2 +1 and tire size and gear ratio and it feels better. The main difference i noticed between the two was now the truck sounds smoother and quiet as opposed to a bit raspy as it was when the timming was bumped up 1 notch. Any help would be appreciated
