Some Questions about the edge???
Some Questions about the edge???
I really only plan on buying 87 octane and want a tuner that I can run settings for Towing, Performance or better MPG. Can the edge run on just 87octane and switch to the 3 different levels? I like the size of the edge and display options. Performance wise I only have a K&N drop in and Magnaflow SIDO exhaust. What will I gain in HP and MPG? I know Troyer can provide the settings on the livewire, but the damn thing is just too big and doesn't seem to fit the truck. I am ok on dumping $500-$700 dollars on a device that will pay for it self in MPG over the next few years. I put about 24,000 highway miles a year so I figured any MPG savings would add up...
With the Edge you can use all levels with 87, you would have to retard the timing on lvl 3 and some guys would say dont do it at all. My friend has used lvl 3 with 89 for the past 6 months without any problems. I have had my edge for 2 months and i have seen 17ampg on lvl 2: and on a 1000 mile road trip I used lvl 3 with 93 and had 19ampg. I would say the edge is a great improvment over stock. I am sure 1 out of the next 5 posts will say go with Troyer because the price diffrence is not that much for totally custom tunes(Edge-450 TP Xcal-500) The question is how long do you want to wait(Edge-1week Xcal5-6weeks).
Actualy I only had to wait 1 day cuz the place I bought it from ships them next day air for free.(autoanything) I said it once and Ill say it again...the edge is great! I love the difference in power and mpg. And I love the gauges...Im always playin with them
X2 what he said. The only ti9ngi would cuation you about is future upgrades. The Edge is fine with and exhast and most intakes. But as soon as you start going with heads and cams and such u need something else. IT all depends on if thats your thing. Pick the edge if you plan on keeping the truck mostly stock. I have one and love it. Hate driving the truck if its not in there. But i wish i had gone with the Xcal2 becuase of the stuff i plan on doing in the near future.
