You have really two ways to go. If you want it tomarrow and cant wait i would recomend the edge evo. ITs got nice guages (that will monitor a ton of stuff on your truck) and three levels of tuning as well as you can tweak the tuning a bit to get a hai r more out of it.

Your best choice, however, is the Xcal2 from troyer performance. I wish i had gone that route myself. You lose the nice guages, but youll get a better tune. Mike works almost stricktly with f150s and has for years. His tunes are as good as it gets. Im sure he'll something here soon.

The reason i wish i had gone with mike is becasue the edge will only work for so long. If you plan on ever doing anything drastic with your engine then your edge will no longer work. Mike can send you a new program to run your new setup.

The one down side to this is you have to wait about 6 weeks to get your tunes.

thats my MHO. If you got the time, i would recomend that you get mikes tuning. I dont have it like i said but everyone that does says it well worth that wait.

Good Luck To you in what your choice may be.

I think twintips pretty much sums up your choices pretty well. I went the Xcal II and Troyer custom tunes route myself and am very happy I did so. The wait does suck, but you're getting the best tunes available for your truck.

The only thing I would add is if you're planning to leave your truck stock then go with the Edge, if you're going to modify your truck then get the Xcal II and custom tunes.

My vote is for the troyer if you want to wait or the superchips 1815, I saw the edge in person the other day and it looked cheap and cheesey to me, but it could have just been the one I saw, but dont think so

Just give them a call.

PS: I just ordered mine. With a 3" AF1 intake. It sucks to wait but remember only the best if you really care about your truck.

Hi armyinfantry150,

Well, as you can see from the posts here, what will get you the best results, whether the truck is modified or even bone-stock, is to go with our Troyer Performance custom tuning. We have specialized in these vehicles for over 15 years, and have custom tuned far more of them than anyone else in the industry as that is what we do - F-150 performance (well, we also do some Mustang & SuperDuty work, but the F-150 is our core vehicle here).

We provide our custom tuning in a hand-held tuner (XCalibrator 2) that gives you many excellent features, including the ability to read data, it has the highest speed datalogger in the world, reads & clears codes, & much more. And, it can always be updated to any future changes you might make to your vehicle, as the others also pointed out.

Yes, it does take a little time for us to do each vehicle, as we do a set of 3 different custom tunes set up for your specific needs & desires (and we'll advise you ion this, it's easy to make that choice), and we do not take any shortcuts - see, these F-150's have literally hundreds of different strategies each and every model year, and they can vary widely - especially in the 2004 & newer trucks, it's really most important to custom tune those like we do to get them right and to get the best safe & sustainable performance, throttle response, etc from them.

We also handle the "of the shelf" types of tuners like the Superchips units, the Edge units, etc, so if you want to go that route, we can supply that for you as well - but to get the best results, you'll want to go with our Troyer Performance tuning.

Additionally, if you make any change to the air intake system, then you must have custom tuning to dial in the A/F ratios properly, as any intake that actually adds power (with the exception of the 3.0" AF1) will lean the engine out, and that must be corrected - and since I see that you have apparently made a change to the intake, you will need to have that corrected for in the tune.

Just give us a call at our number listed below (if you haven't already by now) and we'll be happy to go over this with you in more detail, so you will know exactly what we can do for you, etc., we're happy to help.

Thanks for your post, and we hope to talk with you!
