Exclamation ideal temp?

I have my edge reading out my engine compartment temperature and im not sure exactly what to look fore or when i should be worried. its usually between 196-202. But the highest has been 208. What is the ideal power/efficient temperature? And at what temp should i get worried?

thanks guys

The Edge reads coolant temp, not compartment temps. Mine usually runs around 192-198 or so. Highest it has gotten was 210 sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for an hour the other day when it was around 93 outside.

192-195 coolant temp is what the t-stat is. Ideal coolant temp is where you are at. Nothing to worry about. Don't go to a cooler t-stat because it will mess with your computer making it think the engine is to cold. It is your air intake temperature that will give you power.

My 2004 has been a dyno queen at Troyers shop over the past couple of years as many know I work with Mike and his Crew whenever I can find time to get down to Virginia, which unfortuanely has become less and less lately. (I will be there for the Dyno on June 15-16th)
What we discovered on my vehicle is that I make my best power when my engine (coolant) reaches 200-202 degrees. I therefore have my low temp. electric fan to come on at 203 degrees, and my high temperature set to come on at 213 degrees.
chris1450 is dead on when he stated that you should not change from the 194 degree stock thermostat on the new 5.4 3v engine.
Hope to see some of you in June @ the Dyno....

Same here and that was towing a boat in 85 deg temps. Trans was 160-170 depending on load.
