tow with Edge 2100
tow with Edge 2100
I have a 2001 Screw, stock, 5.4, 4x4, 3.55, LS, 255/70/16, tow package, 85K, edge 2100 set on 2. I will be towing a 3000 boat about 150 miles this weekend. This will mostly interstate, with a some hills that are kind of big but not mountains. (KS and MO hills not CO or AR hills)
Should i turn off OD in some big hills?
If i turn off OD what max speed (rpm and mph) should l stay around?
I can turn OD back on with come to a flater area, right?
do not have a tranny temp but going to add one at next tranny fluid change.
Tips?
do not thing boat has breaks.
I will not have a big crew with me... might have on other person and my 4 year old.
If i need to move to tow topic I will.... if i do not replys i might just re-post there.
Thanks!
Brett

if you only have a 3000# total trailer weight I'd say leave the OD on as long as it will pull it, if the tranny starts searching for a gear then take it off. as far as speed goes you should be able to pull at any speed you want, just watch those temp guages on the edge (set alarms). I don't think you'll have a problem, good luck and have fun taking your kid fishing
You shouldn't have any issues at all with that boat. I used to pull a 3800 pound boat behind my 02 SCREW - 5.4 - 2wheel drive. I don't ever recall turning the OD off.
I bet we are traveling a lot of the same terrain. I often would pull it through the eastern Kansas hills to the local lakes every weekend. Lake of the O, Beaver Lake, and one down past Little Rock Arkansas.
You'll be fine!

driving from Lee's summit Mo to Topeka Ks to get a Correct Craft 2001 Ski boat. NADA has the boat at about 2300 lbs and i guess the trailer will be 700 lbs that is how i got the the 3000 lbs. i will be on I70 and around topeka and KC there are some good hills... I might hop off in Lawance and take K10 because Much flater and Sister lives there.
