Unhappy My Edge saga

So, I got my Edge on Friday, and couldn't install it until Monday. In the meantime I got a brand new Motorcraft battery because I knew the old one was on it's way out. So I installed the battery on Monday afternoon, and the Edge shortly thereafter. It went smoothly through the read portion and the erasure portion, but when it went to write the tow program to my PCM it hung at 9% of part 1 of 4. I let it sit there for over 30 minutes then promptly called tech support. There I got a very nice guy who, unfortunately didn't know a whole lot about the Triton aspect of the Evolution. He kept putting me on hold and asking a more experienced individual for help, but was extremely nice. He told me to unplug the Evo and try starting over. No dice. Then we brought it to my laptop and attempted to retrieve the stock program. Not on the Evo. No idea where it went. We then updated the Evolution to factory new and tried to re-read the factory program. Still not there. They then said they could rebuild my factory stock program after i retrieved the PCM code for them. They weren't really sure where the PCM was physically located on the 2001 F-150 or which code to get. I took it upon my self to totally remove the entire PCM and write every number down that was on it. I called them w/ the code and the overnighted me a Stock Writer programmer w/ my factory code on it. Installed my factory code this afternoon and the truck won't start. So, called tech support again and they said the only option was to tow it to Ford for them to re-flash the PCM.

Took it to Ford this evening and the service manager said he wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. Not going anywhere near anything that was modded/chipped or other wise non-stock. I had to explain to him that this would be cash out of pocket and NOT WARRANTY and then he reluctantly said okay. Now I am worried about what kind of service I am going to get from this guy. There is only one Ford dealer w/in 45 minutes of here and he knows he has the corner on the market. I will know more in the morning when the service tech gets his hands on it. Could be as simple as a re-flash or as much a new PCM. Any ideas of what else might of gotten screwed up? I am worried sick as this is my baby and the Evo has had such great reviews here and everywhere else, but leave it to me to screw something up royally. Any comments/suggestions to help me through my worried times? Thanks

I installed mine today and it went flawlessly. I was done with the whole program in about 2 minutes. I hope everything works out for you though.

Picked it up from the dealer this a.m. and they had to re-flash and reset the PATS as well. I am now afraid to use my Evo for fear of this happening again and having to take it to the dealer again. Any advice? Thinking of returning the Evo and going w/ an exhaust instead. Thanks.
