Ford Funked my Edge

So I took my truck in and forgot about the edge tuner. as soon as I remembered I called the dealer and told them If they had to do anything with the computer I would come remove the tuner.. They said dont worry about it we dont need to. Guess what.. They lied. I tried to update it and it told me to call edge. so it looks like edge gets more of my money..

That is why I return to stock any time they are going to touch it. I would be on them like stink on a skunk! tell you one thing and do something else.

Make the dealer pay for anything you have to do to have it fixed. They F'd it up!
I agree with Bluejay, you always have to remember to return it to stock mode and remove it when taking your ride to the dealer. Good luck and let us know how it works out for you!

That sucks, I even go back to stock for oil changes. I trust no dealer.

I change the oil myself... and do most of the maintainance myself. Heck, my '99 never saw the dealer and it got 106k on it, and my '00 Dakota never saw the dealer and that's got 103k on it. Followed the same service schedules that the manufacturers recommend. Not to mention I can usually get the same stuff they get done in 1/2 the time.

I must know what I'm doing if my friend who has been in the business for 40+ years straight told me how clean my engines were and how well taken care of my trucks were.

If I see something, I don't let it slip by... if it's broken and I see it, ITS GETTING FIXED!

that sucks, they will probably say it is your fault for not returning your truck to stock or that the tecnician flashed it before the guy you talked to on the phone could tell him not to...

it's probably gonna be a costly mistake that you will never forget

I don't forget to disconnect my edge for any service. I completely removed mine yesterday because I took my truck in today. I always return to stock beforehand too so stuff like that won't happen.

Yep.

Would you rather:
a. Keep your warranty (and hope this wasn't put down on the trucks service history) and pay for your own mistake - regardless of what they told you they would or wouldn't touch.

b. fight with the dealer for the cost of repairing your aftermarket tuner and in return **** off your service writer and have them report this on the trucks service history which would then most likely cause them to void any warranty dealing with the electronics.

They lied. I tried to update it and it told me to call edge. so it looks like edge gets more of my money..
Alot is missing here.

Did they reflash the pcm with your EDGE plugged in? i.e. unplug EDGE and reflash pcm.

Or did you have it programed, but unpluged?

I'm assuming the pcm was reflashed and they just unpluged you EDGE and left it that way.

With EDGE support you may be able to clear your old program and update the EDGE to the latest on your pc without having to pay to send it to EDGE.

Did the dealer charge you for the reflash?

good luck

OK, heres what happened, some may know I was bitching about my auto lights not working. I tried everything, come to find out it was a burnt relay in something called a body security module. The truck is out of warreny. I took it to ford and they said all they had to do was take out the old and slap in the new. what they didnt tell me till the next day was they were having trouble getting the new module to program, right away I said oh crap edge tuner. SO I asked, is my tuner gonna be ok, he said yeah no problem so i dropped it. Come to find out it is a problem. it is now telling me this function is not supported by this program, check for updates or call tech support if that doesnt work. I called tech support today and waited on my cell phone for like an hour. so i left a message and if I dont hear from them by the time I get off work, I'll call them back and see what we can do.

If the dealer flashed or updated your vehicles software there should be a label somewhere under the hood identifying this update. If there's nothing there and nothing about this on your work order/receipt then your tech was probably messing around with the tuner.

Not owning a tuner myself, is there any concern with having the vehicle battery disconnected and reconnected have any effect on either the tuner or the tuner installed tune? Might be a reboot (if that's the right term) related issue due to the work they did.

Just guessing on this. Hope you find your solution quickly.
