Edge and Gear Ratio

I put my Edge in a couple of nights ago. Today I went to the custom settings to see what my gear ratio was. The manual says under gear ratio in Custom Options "the default value the Evolution displays is the current value stored in the PCM". My Edge says 3.73, my window sticker that I still have says 3.55. I went to lvl3 last night with no custom settings. Could my Edge be saying 3.73 when Im really 3.55??? I have not changed the gear yet in my truck.

Use the search feature, this subject has has been discussed recently, but to answer your question, the PCM defaults to 3.73 from Ford, stupid huh? All you need to do is match it in the custom options tune and both your speedometers will be corrected in the edge and the truck.

same problem here

Mine is the other way around, when i go to custom , mine shows up as 331 and i have 355.I just readjust it along with upping the shift pressure between 1-2 gear only by 1 point since i am so afraid of frying the tranny.Since i have the 01 model and my tranny is not as good as the 04 and up models, anyone have some safe parameters for the customizing on level 2 and 3.I just switched to 3 last night because i finally ran my 87 out my tank but i really never got to test things because the dam snow came back and i have aweful recent memories of flipping my last f-150 in the snow in the begining of the winter. Thanks

The latest Edge update reads the vin info in the pcm. Does not default the axle ratio.

It will have a default, if it is what you actually have, then you leave it alone, if it is different from what you actually have, you change it.

If you guys need a proper explanation as to what is going on here, plase read this:

Pretty much sums it up.

If the developers at Edge actually listened to that, their latest update would indeed populate the settings from the correct VID block...

Hi.

Good choice.

Hobbies? Detail the truck? Nothing seems to help !

Good luck & please post your impressions when you get your tunes.

Cheers
Bubba
