Edge Dyno 4X4 OffRoad

http://www.off-roadweb.com/tech/0608...tallation.html

Has anyone seen this? An 05 Screw 5.4 only puts out 179hp stock thats crazy. And then they go on to claim a 50hp gain... I dont know about that. Has anyone dynoed their truck with the edge and seen even a 30hp gain

I don't know all the specifics about the test day, but that seems doctored to me. Especially since the motor is rated at 300+ horsepower. I know there is some loss in a driveline, but 35-40% is just ridiculous. Id expect the rwhp in stock form to be around 225, not 175. Also different dynos can read drasticly different numbers. So they might be using the crappiest dyno available. But I'm just making assumptions.

Marketing.

I could dyno my truck without an edge only going half throttle.. then dyno it again with the edge and claim I gained 75HP...

RWHP stock varies a lot - with examples at both ends of the bell curve.
Most are in the 205-210-215 range. ('04+ 5.4 3V)
Driveline losses are ~30% (4x4).

They either had a 'bell-curve bottom feeder', their dyno was not calibrated, or the fugure were intentially fudged. Unlikely that a canned tuner would acheive a 50+ rwhp/tq increase on it's own on this platform.

i understand the concept that a 4x4 will have less power but can someone explain Driveline loss?
thanks

The torque converter is the biggest sucker of horsepower. Usualy the same setup with a manual over automatic the manual will make more power. It takes power to spin these big truck tires and spin big axles and driveshafts.
