EDGE timing and shift points Questions??

1) Does adjusting your timing .5 to 2 deg really make a difference when custom tuning for octane use (ie. +/- 0.5 deg for every 1 octane)? 2) What does it feel like when the truck is pinging/knocking? 3) Aslo adjusting the shift rpms and firmness (+12)...does this make a lot of difference and is it only in effect during WOT? 4) How safe is it to do these adjustments for your tranny? Thanks a lot

In the manual it says you may notice an increase by adjusting timing +.5 for every increase in octane point,ex...level3 requires 91,you put in 93 therefore you could bump timing 1degree advance. As far as pinging,if you don't know what this is,for the life of your truck, leave it please!!!!As far as your tranny i have played w/ firmness and i got it to shift how i wanted at 1/2 throttle but at wide open on the 1-2 shift i kept hitting the rev limiter,i prob could have messed w/ it more but don't realy want to my experimenting to cost me a new 4R70W or motor.I now run level2 w/89 gas and minimal custom settings.I know you want to mess w/ it the same as me but it would prob be safer to add a shift kit for firmer shifts or some more performance parts for power.Leave the tuning up to the experts.I'm not tryin to be a jerk but you can screw your truck up.After i finish my mods i want to do i will get a Troyer Tuned Xcal2 and then i won't have to worry about (me) messing it up,until then the Edge is way better then stock.
