Ordered TP-Xcal2, need help w/ computer code

I ordered (2) Xcal2 custom tunes from Troyer P. last week. They require the computer code to set up the tunes. I had the one on a truck I have owned since new, But the other, an 04 F250, has had the tag on the door removed prior to my purchase. ( Found the sticky residue where the tag was ). I talked to Crystal and Chris from Troyer and they gave me pointers as to where the PCM with another code tag might be located. I have yet to locate it either because I don't know what I am looking at or it may be in a different location from the factory. If someone could give me more guidance or provide a pic of their PCM and its location I would appreciate it. Maybe I am just overlooking the obvious.

Got this from a search I did when I needed to find my code;

open the hood, look to your left rear corner by the windsheild, there is a harness pack, there is a sticker, the pack is by motorola, thats where you will find it.

This thread contains a picture of what the sticker and code will look like, it's the 6th post in the thread.

Ummm - he's got an '02.

The PCM is up in the passenger footwell - rectangular silver box.

Crawl up under there with a good light - should see a sticker/label with the 4-character code on it ( e.g NSI2, etc).

Actually, the code I need is for the 04 F250 I bought used. What MGDfan said is true, their is a silver looking box in the passenger footwell inside the truck, but no readily apparent code visible. There is also a similar silver box
next to the parking brake on the 04 F250. Could this be it? Again no visible code. Opted not to take out at that time, due to all info stating it should be under the hood.

On my 2006 it is under the hood exactly where I stated in my previous post, I am assuming it is the same for the 2004.

Hi DUBELHOR,

There is another option - first, you can call and ask for me personally, just give my staff your screen name and if I am here, I will go over this with you personally.

the other option is that we can simply send out your tuner(s) blank, and you can simply plug it into the truck's OBD=II port and read it's code and give it to us that way, and we can simply email you your tunes - we do this a lot, your situation is not unique by any means, as sometimes even on brand new trucks, because they tend to get updated without the customer ever knowing, we will need to send out a blank tuner to have the customer do a "read" (which is simple, takes 10 seconds when you plug in the tuner) and get us the info that way.

Worst case, you can use one tuner to read BOTH trucks' strategies, and if you do not want to load in the tunes yourself by having us email them to you, you can shoot us back the tuner(s) so we can load them in here for you - but it's very easy to load them in when we send the tunes via email order, we do that for dozens of people every week.

The bottom line is, there is ALWAYS a way to get the info heeded on your PCM revision and get you your tuning, so have no fear!

Thanks for your post, & call us if you need to, OK?

Mr Troyer, Thanks for the reply. I will try to call and talk with you soon.

wxscpo - Thanks for your info. Since my truck is an F250 vrs F150 and is still the first generation with a 2V 5.4, is why I think there may be a discrepancy in the location of the PCM. Mr. Troyers method of sending me the tuner to read the code first has the most appeal because it removes any concern of an undocumented reflash prior to my purchase of the truck. I am glad to see you are excited with your tuner purchase. It provides me with a another comfort factor that I made the right decision. Thanks

I actually got my blank tuner last night and was able to get the strategy off the truck in about 30 seconds. This is actually probably the best way to do it since you are getting the most accurate data possible back to Mike and his team. Good luck to you.

Yes, that method always works well, reading it with the blank tuner up front.

Mr Troyer,
Thanks for the reply. I called for you late last week, but you were unavailable, so I talked to Chris instead. He answered my questions
and indicated he would send me the blank tuners to get the codes for you
when my turn for tuning comes up.

Hi DUBELHOR,

Thanks for your response!

My apologies for not being available when you called, I have to confess that happens a lot due to me doing all of the tuning, dyno work, R&D, and being the head of the company - so that is why, like most companies, we have a staff to help our customers, and Chris is a great guy, he's UT & ASE Ford certified. I'm more than happy to take calls from anyone when I'm NOT tied up, it's just that many times I am in the middle of a project, or what have you, so thanks for working with Chris on that, I appreciate it, & we'll take care of this for you, no problem!
