tuner question

do tuners wear down anything on the engine or the engine itself prematurely?

Hello hownaml,

That is one of "the basics" around here, and is easily found using the "SEARCH" feature - just FYI anytime you want to know something, you can use the search feature and look up anything 24 hours a day.

This is a commonly asked question, and just spending 5 minutes here reading on the boards will quickly tell you that no, this is not a problem.

Now yes, it IS possible to damage an engine or automatic transmission with improper tuning, but these days, that is virtually unheard of - well, except with heavily modified vehicles where the tuner doesn't know what they are doing, we *have* seen some cases of that here & there once in a while.

But the basic answer to your question is no, with *quality* tuning this is not a concern.

The tuning we do to these powertrains does NOT shorten the service life or reduce reliability or durability in any way - in fact, these engines tend to run cleaner, putting out fewer emissions with our tuning, and the automatic transmissions tend to last longer due to the reduced slippage, which extends the service life of the friction materials, like the bands & clutches.

We have specialized in the tuning & performance modification of these trucks for over 15 years, and are well known for our results - which is why most people here come to us for their F-150 tuning & other performance needs, as nobody knows more about safely modifying these trucks for more performance than we do - we have tuned & modified more F-150's than anyone else, it's what we have specialized in for many years now.

I hope this brief info helps you, & please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below if you would like to go over any of this in more detail, OK?

Thanks for your post, & best of luck with your truck!
