Question about messing with my XCal II
Question about messing with my XCal II
Hey all, it's been a while since I've posted, but I need some help.
I was switching between tunes today when I was empty because the boss wanted me to start using the 87 octane instead of the 91! (He pays my gas)
While switching to the 87 perf. tune, I actually selected to "Change Parameters" just to check it out. Now, I am almost 100% (an oxymoron, I know) sure that I didn't change anything whilst checking what I could change such as the timing, tire/gear size, etc., but I want to know that if I change my tire size, will it save (or overwrite) that part of the tune that Mike gave me?
I mean, if I would change a part of the tune, does that change only last until would change back to stock or if I switched between perf. tunes? Or would that change save itself to file and overwrite what Mike gave me?
Another example is, Mike's tune of the timing for my perf. setting. Now if I fiddled around with the timing setting (that Mike wrote), would my messing around overwrite what he did initially? Or would my change last until I switched between tunes?
I would like to have a little harder shift than Mike originally gave me (upon my request) but I don't know what setting Mike had it at originally and I don't want to mess with numbers if I don't know how to set it back to Mike's original setting, you know?
I have done a lot of searching, but came up empty for my specific question and this came up @ 4:30 CMT which is a half hour after closing time where Mike's at.
I appreciate any and all help, thanks!

One of the very first things you should do when receiving your tuner is read the documentation that comes with it. If I am not mistaken that is what the first sentence on the doc's state. You will find your answer there....

I have always respected your posts because of your close relationship with Mike. The thing is, I bought the XCal II almost a year ago (11 months I think), and only have the box with the 2 page info from SCT. I must have lost the documentation (hopefully misplaced) that Troyer sent with much more information. You guys were the quickest place I could ask and get an answer.I am NOT one of those guys like so many others who just Plug & Pray things onto their vehicle. I remember a lot of posts about a check engine light after they would install the AF1 intake only to find out they did it wrong.

j/k Marc! This is exactly what I needed to know.
