superchips tuner question

ok every i have a super chips tuner 1715, i turned my old 2000 f-150 but sold the truck with the tune in it. so im assuming the hand held tuner is worthless? is there a way to make it not vin locked again? im assuming if i try to sell it no one will buy it (since i wouldnt lie and tell them its vin locked)... any ideas?

Hi Racer,

You will have to contact the manufacturer and pay a fee to have that unit unlocked - until you do that, you're right, it's useless, so nobody would want to buy it due to the significant fee they would have to pay to have it unlocked would make it no bargain - well, unless maybe they got it free.

Sorry, but that's the scoop - these tuners MUST be used to return the first vehicle back to stock, there is no way around that - otherwise they are VIN-locked to the last vehicle and cannot be used again unless they are sent back to the manufacturer and a hefty fee paid.

So if you turn your truck back to stock with the programmer, then you can be free to use it on another truck, once you update it through the flashpaq website?

Its $200, but it beats paying $400 for a new one.

You could contact the purchaser and ask them to let you return it to stock that you forgot but they'll probably say no,

Your ace in the hole is that if they don't get the programmer from you and the trucks ECM has problems or goes in for service there is the possibility that the Ford Dealer could simply upgrade the ECM or replace it and they loose the programming.

They would have to pay the expensive price for a new programmer.
