I have a Hypertech chip that says on the box 1996 F150 5.8L E4OD 4X4. My friend has a 97 F250 5.8L E4OD 4X2. Just wondering if it would work in his F250 & if they are really that specific. I used a Hypertech for 89 5.0L 5 spd Mustang in my 91 GT 5 spd for several years & sold it that way a few weeks ago. Don't know if it did everything right but I know it advanced the timing & would labor knock on 87 oct.

 

I'm not sure, but I know that the Hyperpac unit that I bought had been sitting on someone's shelf for awhile and was for a 2005 model 5.4L. Mine's a 2006, so I figured same thing, but it would not work for the 2006 truck. I had to send it to Hypertech so that they could reprogram it for me, then it worked fine.

I'd call Hypertech at 901.382.8888 and speak to their technical assistance folks. Kenny is a good guy to talk to, just FYI. Tell him what you're looking at and he'll be able to set you straight.
