Edge freezing up...literally...

Its been pretty cold here in Jersey the past few days (Well below 20). Got into my truck, started it up, and my Edge said 0 for RPM, Coolant temp, etc.

I think the cold weather really effected its monitoring. I unplugged the Edge and plugged it back in, works fine. This has happened a couple times today.

It also showed the hex file when I started my truck this morning then went back to normal when the truck warmed up inside.

Weird...I really think the cold weather effects the display...

Anyone else had this problem?

Yeah, got in my truck today after landing back in the Philly airport and I had the same problem with the display freezing. LCD's will do that when they are cold but otherwise the Edge functions normally and displays correctly once it warms up in the cab.

You should see what happens to my laptop when I leave it in the truck overnight in the cold.....won't even turn on!

Hey, thanks for the info...at least I know my Edge isn't messed up. Truck ran normally, display was just erratic

Mine had trouble with the cold snap we had last week. Similar symptoms.

They all do it, nothing to worry about.

Mine has done this (blank screen or hex showing) 5 times in 2 weeks and has happened on very cold days. If the lcd was frozen then why does it work if you unplug it and plug it back in after the screen screws up? I think that one of the pins is not making contact due to the cold shrinking things. My Evo did not do this last winter.

Received this message from Edge:

Yes, we have been seeing this with the colder weather. If the Evolution does not see enough voltage on power up it turns on in an unknown state. This is why once the truck is running, if you disconnect the Evo and reconnect it the unit should power up normally. Once the engine is running there is enough voltage coming from the alternator for the Evolution to power up normally. The engineers are working to see if there is something we can do for this, but there may be limitations to how the LCD can power up in colder conditions.

Thanks,
