timing adjust q's
Hi, I Live in La county, in a city called San Dimas Ca(Maybe you've seen it in Bill and Teds excellent adventure)
Anyways, all the gas stations around me, arco, 76, chevron, valero, and shell are all close, but their premium gas is only 91 octane.
I was wondering if I could throw an octane booster in my gas tank every time I fill up, and in doing so, edge states you could safely put your timing up 1.50 if ur running 93 octane, with my booster im running lets say 94-95 octane, would it be safe for me to put my timing up to 1.50 or even 2.00, it makes sense to me but do those octane boosters work? please help me.

Thanks, Im actually not going to use a octane booster now, no pinging was involved, but to be on the safe side ill not run a booster if it dosent work and will leave deposits in the engine, I dont want that, I guess ill just run 91 octane and maybe run 100 octane when I feel like being stupid and wasting my money for kicks and giggles, just to see if it makes not much of a difference to run that expensive of a fuel. Because there is a gas station that sells av gas 100/101 octane, but it's 6.00 dollars a gallon. Thanks for all the help guys.

The only octane booster that actually adds significant octane is the NOS brand stuff, and ALL octane boosters leave very nasty deposits behind on your spark plugs, O2 sensors, etc., and will force the vehicle to run lean over time due to the deposits on the O2 sensors.
Octane booster is something that should be used only in an emergency or strictly temporary scenario, it should never be used on a routine basis.
I hope that helps,
