Edge to blame?

I am hoping the Edge did not screw up my ECU in my 2000 F150. It died tonight out of nowhere and the Edge will not allow me to return it to a stock reflash. Downloaded the Lightning software after talking to Aaron on the tech line...still would not get past the screen that claims it is iniatilizing. The screen stays on when the key is off too. Finally it did start before i left my friends house but was running so bad I shut it off. Just glad I had my tow strap with me and lucky a guy stopped in a F250 to pull me down the road. I am at a loss as to what to do???

8NO4CYL... I also have the edge, I've had it about 6 months with NO problems. I am curious as to what happened. Were you driving down the road when it "Just Died"? What exactly were you doing when every thing quit? I have No complaints with my programmer but I keep seeing some members having major issues with the edge... Explain just what you were doing, please? BoB

Yeah I haven't had any problems until this. Driving down the road and my truck just died, no kind of warning. It would just crank but no start. I checked the inertia switch first but no luck. When I got to my buddy's house I tried to check the trouble codes that were hopefully stored in the Edge. The screen on the Edge just says turn key, do not start and wait for it to initialize. After downloading the Lightning software to it(like the tech guy said) I pluggged it in and still could not get past that initializing screen.

Still not getting anywhere. Wouldn't even start today at all. The screen on the Edge stays lit up even with the key out of the ignition. Had to unplug it to turn it off. Do I need to get Ford to reflash the original settings on the computer?

This is an interesting problem. It seems the edge is still getting power after you turn off the key, correct?

Where did you run the wiring harness for your edge? I would start out simple and take a look at the edge wriring harness. Maybe it has been damaged. In my edge instruction manual it says to run it along the door jamb weatherstripping. I instead ran my beneath the dash.

Seems like a long shot, but I would look at the harness first, then go from their. Probably not gonna solve your starting issue, but if the harness is gounded out, would need to be replaced.

Just my .02 cents.

Please let us know what you find.

So if my computer has to be reflashed or replaced at my cost should I call Edge to get my money back? I don't have much faith in there products and may just try and get my money back from them or Discount Power Parts. Anyone deal with this?

I can't imagine your problem being edge related. Your truck had some years on it, probably something else.

Not totally sure yet but the tech told me the Edge should not stay on when the key is off.

the only way it can screw up is while it is writing the pcm. if it just quit while running theres something else wrong.

Well finally got it running. Had to replace the computer and reflash. Too scared to plug the Edge in tonight. Going to call tech tomorrow to see if they will replace it or refund.
