Strange happening

I was rolling down the highway tonight and came upon some slower traffic, slowed down to about 55mph and hit the O/D off then kicked it down to pass...then security light flashed twice and then stayed on momentarily then shut off and O/D kicked back on and I let out of it, checked all guages and nothing weird. I am running the Xcal with the 93 tune, no codes came up either. Has anyone else seen or heard of this??

oh yah, happens to quite a few of us...think it has to do with redlining and the sudden downshift....im in the habit of punching and letting off and every now and then the transmission will get confused it seems like and clunk a little, rev the engine real high and blink the light...only happens when im tooling around though.

Never hit redline though. <scratching head> It hasn't done it before and has hit redline a few times

No one els has any input? Did it again and it wasn't at redline when it happened. I'm getting frustrated with it and don't want to take it to the stealer.

Mind if I ask who did your tuning? That is where you should start looking for a cause.

That's a very good/valid question. Before I had Troyer tunes, I went with a guy that does mainly Mustang tuning. I had the exact same thing happen to me on many occasions while running his tunes. Since I've had TP's tunes, it hasn't happened at all!

Not trying to throw stones here, this is a simple but oft-repeated issue with off the shelf tuning (and sometimes some so-called "custom" tuning) that results from not being expert in tuning these vehicles specifically.

If you like, we can take care of that for you by providing a set of true custom tunes that can be loaded into an XCal 2 - just give us a call to go over the details on this.

I got it from JLT. I changed from the 93 tune back to the 87 tune and it has not done it since...even with me trying to get it to happen. I have not had a chance to contact JLT about it as I work late and don't have the oppurtunity to call during the day much. Mike, I will be contacting you soon, there are a few things I want to change on my truck and am looking at getting those from you.

Dido!

Mine did basicly the same thing today 4 times. All taking off from a dead stop......with the OD off.........like the truck died momentarily and the battery light came on the first 3 times, jerked hard, fired back off on it own (OD came back on) and went on down the road. All insodences scattered throughout the day< the first day I have put any miles on my Troyer 93 towing tune. The last time it did it the engine light came on instead of the battery light and stayed on. I pulled a p0607 code and cleared it. I put back to stock when I got home and reloaded the 93 tow again. Have to wait and see what it does tommorow. I will cann Mike Tues. and see what he thinks. Gordon

I had this happen to me a couple times on my truck with my TP 93 performance tune also. I only noticed it when the weather got colder so I thought it had something to do with the truck running lean do to the colder weather.

This happened to me as stated above with Troyer custom tunes. Like i said, it only happens if the engine is reved almost redline, and about the same time you let off the gas midshift, or just before. Doesnt happen if you hold down the pedal the whole time.
