have an 02 x cab with 5.4L, have K&N filter replacement and true dual 3" exhaust after the cats run to the side before the rear tire. would like more hp and wondering what chip and what easy mods are around that will work.......????????
Hi Gonehuntin,
Well, what we generally advise is to do your performance mods in the general order of best "bang for the buck."
Now when we look at it from that standpoint, the single best bang for the buck is to have competent custom tuning done on the vehicle, as that will yield more performance improvement per dollar - we have specialized in the performance tuning & modification of these trucks for the past 15 years, so many people here tend to come to us for their tuning needs - we also provide tuning assistance to other manufacturers in this industry due to our expertise on this platform.
We provide a set of 3 different custom tunes, set up for however you operate your vehicle, your preferences, any modifications that have been done, etc. That way you have maximum performance and flexibility, so you can have tunes for everything from performance to towing to whatever.
Now once the vehicle is tuned, the next best bang for the buck is to install a good intake kit, and here we recommend using the Air Force One, as it adds the most power, it made out of top-quality aircraft-grade T304 S/S, and is priced right.
After that, next up comes the exhaust - which you have already done, so that's completed.
From there, to add still more power it's on to things like underdrive pulleys, electric fans, larger throttle body, MAF meter, injectors, headers, etc - there is no limit to how much power you can add to that vehicle other than you desires & budget, basically. We have done everything from mildly modified daily drivers to 1000 hp monsters, and everything in between for owners of these trucks - but for most people, they are daily drivers, occasional tow vehicles, and are concerned with getting better reliable performance.
I hope this brief info helps, & please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below, we'll be happy to answer any questions & go over any details with you.
Thanks for your post, & best of luck with your truck!
