Fuel Economy
Have a 2004 F150 Lariat with all the standard stuff, get around 18/19 MPG average, needed tires around 88,000 and put on Goodyear Wranglers 265/70/R18 which is a little bit bigger than original tires, notice that when I go by the road speed detection signs which DOT or Hwy Patrol put out around construction areas, I am really goimg 3MPH faster than indicated on speedometer, so as an example, if speed limit is 55 mph, I need to show about 52 MPH on speedometer to be at 55 mph. That is rather a moot point, since my question is to you that are in the know, I recently bought a 25' Jayco tag along travel trailer, probabley less than 6000 lbs loaded, first time I have ever towed with my 150, mpg dropped to 5/9 MPG, 5 going thru Tenn and Ky mountains, are there any performance options, chips, exhaust, cold air intake or programmers that would increase my mpg's while towing. I am not knowledgeable in truck performance, just got into the forum, and have dropped in to different ones, and most of the time I do not have a clue as to what you all are talking about, so any replys, pls be patient and explain. Sure would appreciate any help.

BudE,
I personally use an airaid intake for my 5.4L
www.airaid.com
a magnaflow 15821 single side exit exhaust kit( exits just like factory)
www.magnaflow.com
and a hypertech programmer set on 87 octane
www.hypertech.com
all of this equals about 18-22hp (depending on environment)
when I pull my 7000# 27' trailer I get around 12/13 mpg where as before I got around 7/8 mpg, also you can feel the extra power as the truck doesn't seen to be *struggling* to pull the load. The only other way to get more power would be to get either an EDGE Evolution programmer
www.edgeproducts.com
or the best way would be a custom program from troyer performance which is made for your specific truck.

Towing power and fuel economy?
get a diesel
I got so fed up with my gasser when towing, with no real towing power and lousy fuel economy, I sold it and picked up a powerstroke.
Now I get 12-15 MPG towing whatever I want, up whatever hill I find.
