Edge questions
Edge questions
Ok so I've been reading up on all the programmers and everything and have decided to go with the Edge Evo. I've decided this due to the fact that you can run all the different display configurations and I like having that option. The two questions I have may be really dumb but I haven't found my answer on this site yet.
Question 1: I know there are 3 different pre-set programs that you can run, but my question is do you have to run that exact fuel for that program. I understand for Level 3 you MUST use 91 or above, but if I decided to go back down to Level 2, could I still run the 91 octane fuel? Does this really matter if I run higher octane than recommended?
Question 2: Level 2 is the "tow tune" but why can't I just tow using Level 3 considering this Level creates the best performance on my truck?
I hope these aren't completely rediculous questions and thanks for any help you guys can provide. I've learned a lot just by reading on this forum every day since I joined

Question 1. You can change the octane for all 3 programs. So, yes you can run 91 octane on the 87 octane tow tune. You change the timing by +1 for for 89 octane, +2 for 91 octane, +3 for 93 octane. You also change the timing for being above sea level. For every 2000 feet add +1.
Question 2. The transmission will die a early death if you tow on level 3. The shift pressure has been changed for level 3.

For question #2 - the rigors of towing requires the 'tow'-compatible tunes to be such that the EGT's are kept in check, hence they are configured to run slightly richer than a perf tune. DO NOT TOW on a Perf tune. Period.
Searching the 'Chips' forum will provide all you need to know on the above.
Cheers
