Troyer Tunes and truck mods

I am going to be ordering a Xcal 2 from Troyer and am also going to do some mods to my truck as well. My first question is, do I need to do the mod to my truck first then get the tunes or does it matter. The mod is going to get the rear end ratio changed. Im going from a 3.08 (p.o.s) to a 4.10. Should i get it re geared first or no? I read on his web site that they take into account what the truck has done to it before he writes the tunes. Im thinking that I should just go ahead and order the tunes and and have it tuned for 4.10's because I know I will be waiting a while for them to get to me. Then while im waiting, get the other work do if I can. Also, will the Xcal 2 correct a speedo for a re-gear and bigger tires? And is it necessary or very beneficial to me to get an AF1 intake from them as well. My truck already has a drop in K&n.

Thanks,

Ed

Hi Ed,

Excellent questions!

First, with regard to changing either tire size or gear ratios - this is an adjustment you can easily do yourself at any time with the XCalibrator 2 that we load our custom tuning into, so you do not need to wait to do that.

Now with regard to the Air Force One, I am a big fan of doing that intake mod too, as it frees up a good deal of power - now on the pre-2004 F-150's, the intake kits do not lean out the engine very much, and we can easily dial in that adjustment for you, either up front or at a later date, and simply send that to you via email - that is one of the nice things about the XCalibrator 2, it can always be updated.

Right now we are doing a Group Buy, and one of the combo specials we are running is our tuning and the Air Force One - so you might want to take advantage of that and just pick up both at the best possible price - I don't mean to play "sales-tool" here on you, but it is a good suggestion for those looking to maximize their mods budget. The Group Buy ends on Friday (Friday will be the last day of the Group Buy), so you should get your order in for that - also, we do each custom tune in order and don't' charge the credit card until we actually complete the tune, so if you like, we can hold the Air Force One intake kit until we get your tunes done, ship them both together, and that way your credit card would not be charged until we are actually sipping both products out the door together - that might help your cash flow, just a suggestion.

If you'd like to go over any of this in more detail, please feel free to give us a cal at our number listed below & we'll be happy to help!

That, or you can make them charge your credit card 2 months in advance, like I did. Yeah, I'm weird like that. Just wanted to make sure we were all square. The nice ladies at TP didn't want to take my money before they sent it out but I convinced them that they had a great reputation and I was willing to let them have my money well before I got my Xcal2 and AF1.
