How to data log with X-cal 2.

Using my buds lap top, is there a certain way to drive my truck to get all the info I need. Do I just drive normal or should I go WOT. Please help. Thx.

Not to flame....but you need to carefully read over the documentation Mike T. sent with your XCal2. There are explicit instructions on how to do the datalogging Mike needs to analyze to make sure you truck's tunes are where they need to be.

Hi.

Yup. It's all there in excruciating detail, very well written too

What I did was, after reading it over until the letters wore off the pages, was to build a checklist in Excel, every single step, soup to nuts - (and I mean everything - from: " is the tank full with the right octane for the tune ?") - along with a list of all the PIDs/DMR's required, so I wouldn't miss anything as I usually would when I get all excited .

You'll need some way to capture your A/F's in addition to all the other parameters, or your logging will be incomplete.

There's a really good tutorial on the LM-1-to Xcal2 interface over on SCT's and Innovate's web site. A must-read, IMHO. You'll find LiveLink docs there ( SCT) as well.

Good luck - it's fun!

BTW - Blue, those are great numbers !

Cheers
Bubba

Well, had I actually bought my X-cal 2 from Mike I'm sure I wouldn't have posted this thread. I bought mine from Sal @ PSP so unfortunately I didn't get any datalogging instructions. I guess if it's that involved I'll have to talk to Sal about how to do it. Thanks anyways.

Hi.

Sorry adt, I made an incorrect assumption; I presumed that *most* reputable dealers providing custom tunes on a datalog-capable device would provide instructions on this procedure to facilitate any fine-tuning that may be required. I'd be interested to know what Sal says ...

For me, this reaffirms once again that I chose the right dealer

BTW - There's still some good datalogging advice on what to capture, etc, on SCT's site in the forums, as well as Innovate's site ... worth reading.

Also, the latest versions of LiveLink (v3.1.31 & v3.1.33) also have a pretty good help function (Help> Contents on the menu), with some useful stuff on parmeters, etc.

Good news is, I just got my latest loggin' session done, just in time to meet the 60-day deadline, and to avoid the rapidly failing weather conditions. Woo-Hoo . On the way, Mike - hope the turnaround time on the data review isn't too onerous .

Good luck.

Cheers
Bubba
