Question Edge 2100 or 2400, any serious quirks?

I have just recently joined the forum, and I'm very confused about the Edge tuner, I have read quite a bit about both the Edge and the Troyer tuners, and frankly I need the Edge because when flog my truck I need the gauages to stop me before some foul smell does. Anyways, I read quite a few reviews and posts decribing confusion between the PCM and the tranny causing erratic shifting, also I've read 2 horror stories of the PCM completely crashing and needing to be reflashed at the dealer to the stock tune. Have many people experienced these problems, are they difficult to fix, and is Edge's computer update system easy to use and helpful? Edge looks like an awesome tuner, everyone seems to love it or Troyer on this site, I'm looking for some honest feedback for my '97 4.6L.

BUILT FORD TOUGH!!

There has been a few problems, but considering the hundreds that have been sold, it's not as bad as it sounds. And it's only been out for less than a year, and Ford keep changing the programming causing some problems with the newer vehicles. But I am happy with mine and would recommend it to anyone. The guys with the Beta testing on the 97-03 should be able to give you the latest scoop on that version.

Good luck.

You need to understand that Edge came out with their gas unit for the 2004 and up engines first. Then they came out with a unit for the older trucks and Beta tested it on here with several of the guy's trucks. Do the research but you need to pay particular attention to the info on the unit for your truck. I don't think a lot of the stuff on the newer trucks applies to you. I have the Edge on my 2005 and it is fantastic for my needs.
