Concerns w/ my XCal2 possible ignition upgrade

I love my XCal2. I've been on it for about a week now and I'm still not over it. Anyway a thought crossed my mind and I was wondering if any of you out there have the same concerns. Do I need to upgrade my plug wires, distributor caps, and spark plugs to match my aggressive tune? Is there anyone who had done this already? Is this a good idea even if my truck is only slightly modified. I have 2003 5.4, True Flow intake, flowmaster CAT back and XCal2.

With your '03 5.4 engine you have a coil on plug setup, meaning there are no spark plug wires. One coil sets on top of each plug. In addition, you have a distributorless ignition. That being said you can certainly do some upgrades to "keep the candles lit" in high temp/humidity conditions.

I assume you bought that xcal-2 from Mr. Troyer. Give him another call and inquire about Denso plugs, coils and plasma booster for starters. These Ford ignitions are a bit weak.

Good luck,

enb

You do not need to spend that kind of money unless you have forced induction. It really wont gain you anything.
