Thanks for buying the edge!
When I lose a street race, I post it here just the same.
Yes, I do have a 2wd. I couldnt see the point of buying a 4wd to only use it maybe 10 times. If I cant make it there with 2 wheels... I don't have any business being there.
I'm mostly just razzin' the guys with the Edge because I have an XCAL custom tuned on the dyno.. Makes a couple more ponies than the Edge does. And this thread really gets the Edge guys' undies all wadded up. LOL

I always look at my IAT just to see what temp it is, when I had a leak in my radiator, I was riding down the interstate, and the edge started blinking ECT=212 and beeping. I set a warning at 4 degrees above normal. (mine rarely goes over 208*) How cool is that! I would have never known it until my mechanical guage redlined, and then it would be too late! I can watch my IMPG (instant mpg's) and keep my truck at 18mpg. I pulled my edge out of my dash 3 times last week to pull codes on buddy's trucks. It takes about 15 seconds to get it out, and put it back in! I did 1/4 mile runs before and after I changed my spark plugs, and I did them before and after I removed my muffler. (no change in 1/4 times) I used my edge to measure off the dimensions for a new shelter, and to measure the dimensions of a pond. I also measured off my own personal 1/4 mile drag strip to the foot! I found out that my speedo is off by 6mph when I get around 95-100mph. I used it to diagnose 4 people's weak alternators. Just hook it up and it gives a digital voltage rating! I used it to diagnose a bad battery on my truck. (when I shut the truck off it went to ~9-10volts) What does your xcal do on a regular basis? Yeah, I don't race the truck. It's a truck! I do, however use the edge for a lot of other things. If you want a fast vehicle, go get a new Shelby Mustang. But if you want to come challenge me, Come ON! I'm ready and willing.

Just to clarify, I am running a canned tune as well with my 1715 and I know a custom tune would beat it everytime. I do not claim the 1715 is better. The XCAL was not a product when I bought my 1715.

I don't need my XCAL to read my coolant temps.. I have electric fans to do that. When the coolant reaches about 205-207 degrees, my fan kicks on. NO thinking needed. IF that fan doesn't work and I notice the truck is running hot, I have another fan wired to a manual switch. Got that covered.
I don't care about IMPG. I most likely get about 12 MPG..lol
My IAT is lower I'm sure because my Intake kit seals off the engine compartment for lower air temps.
I don't want to read trouble codes on my friend's trucks/cars. That's what AutoZone is for.
I have a calculator to do simple math.
I doubt my speedo is off at higher speeds by much because my tires are rated at 140MPH. And they're pretty low profile. Shouldnt be much flex.
YOu caught me on one of those. My XCAL does not read the voltage of my battery. That would be nice though.
And if you don't race your truck or care about acceleration, why did you test your 1/4 mile time to see if your 18 1/4 was due to bad plugs.
. Or measure off you own personal 1/4 mile.
And I would go get a new Shelby Mustang if it didnt come with a payment book thicker than the latest Harry Potter Book.

Just kidding! That means you have more than me. Enjoy it.

Very good points made by all. Darn Chester, you should work up an ad for EDGE. You do stuff with that thing that I never thought of.
Just want to clarify one thing.
I have tested both stock and aftermarket using a Scanguage and the EDGE.
At cruising speed the IAT is usually within 3-4 degees on either setup. But at idle in heavy traffic, you will see temps at over 30-40 degrees above ambient temp on the stock setup; and even higher on aftermarket.
The so called cold air intakes are actually more like fresh air intakes. As the piping gets hot, it heats up the air going into the engine unless you are at highway speed and the air is moving faster through the intake.
