Wondering which tuner to get

Has anyone had any experience with the Superchips Flashpaq Tuner? I am considering it or the Troyer Excal2. If I go with the Excal2, what advantages does it have over the Flashpaq and is it worth the extra money? I would appreciate any advice and opinions.

Look into the Edge Evolution. To me, it's a good product for the money ($335 shipped). It woke my truck up big time.

I don't know about the flash pack. I do know that alot of people like the edge and Tp xcal 2. Both of those are great products. The edge fit more to what I wanted though. Also do a search because there is a ton of info on this sudject.

The one biggest difference between the Flashpaq and the TP tuned XCal2 is that the Flashpaq uses canned tunes and the XCal2 is custom tuned specifically for your truck and your personal driving needs

is the xcal ever going to come out with a tuner you can mount in the dash like the edge?

Hi Ishmial,

It really gets down to one simple thing - do you want the best results?

The XCalibrator 2, which is what we load our custom tuning into, has wonderful features including all of the ford-specific diagnostics built in, as well as the highest-speed datalogger available.

And our tuning is the best available, bar none - we have specialized in the F-150 platform for 15 years now, and a number of the major chipmakers actually come to us for help on this platform due to our expertise - this is why you see so many people coming to us for their tuning & other F-series performance needs, as that is what we specialize in.

The Flashpaq unit is a nice unit, it's a bit pricey for the actual quality of the tuning - so I do like that hardware as far as an "off the shelf" type of unit goes, but our Troyer Performance custom tuning will do a significantly better job of adding power, torque, overall driveability, shift characteristics, etc.

So it really gets down to the actual *tuning* - not the hardware used to deliver the tuning - that determines your actual results - add that to the features of the XCalibrator 2, and you have a great package that gives you the best results.

If you'd like to go over this in more detail, please feel free to give us a call at our number listed below - we also offer a special discount to registered members of F-150 Online like yourself, so you'll find it's a cost-effective way to get the best tuning available to really wake that truck up.

Thanks for your post, & good luck with your truck!
