Programming my Edge
Programming my Edge
I just ordered my Edge online so I wont have it for a couple days but Im curious about how to program it. Im a novice at all performance upgrades and electronics and Im not a motor head. Ill basically have to follow the instructions step by step. Are there any formulas, calculations or other things that I may not understand or may have to figure out that I may struggle with? All I have is a K&N series 77 intake, a FlowMaster exhaust and I just put on 20" wheels.. Id appreciate any input you guys have...
First, since you have a 2006, you need to make sure the Edge supports your computer code. You may need to call them and ask. Assuming it does, I would upgrade your Edge with the latest downloads. To do this, you go to Edge's site, download the Lightning software to your computer. This is needed so your computer can communicate with your Edge programmer. Then you hook up your Edge to your computer and download updates. Be sure to follow all instructions in the manual. Then you are ready to install on your truck. Pay careful attention and follow all instructions. If you changed overall tire hieght, you will definitly need to customize it and correct your tire size. If I have not been clear or have mistated anything, maybe someone else will chime in. Good luck.

I called edge because I read that some HEX codes will NOT work with 2006. They told me that it was a problem but that its been corrected. My truck had factory 17"s and I changed to OEM 20"s and I hear that can cause some issues with the speedometer etc. so I definitely want to correct that. I think the diameter changed appx 3 inches. Do I have to measure or does it ask me tire/wheel size? I cant assume that because Im buying it new it will have the updates? Does the USB cable come with the edge so that i can dowload updates? Sorry for all the questions but my truck is new and Im a little paranoid about messing something up.. Thanks
I understand. I was the same way as mine is my daily driver. The cable is with the kit. There may have been updates since your unit was manufactured. When you get it, look at the manufactured date, then check on Edges site for updates after that date. If none that effect you, then don't mess with update. You will need to check their manual for the size tire you have. If they do not have it listed, you will need to calculate it. They have the formula in the manual.

Mine is also my daily transport and although I want to do some custom stuff and unlock its potential I DO NOT want to do anything that may cause long term damage or shorten its life. Thanks alot for the info
