Does reprogramming leave a fingerprint?
Does reprogramming leave a fingerprint?
I'm new to this forum, hello
I am considering buying an 06' f150 supercrew with 5.4L. Just wondering if I reprogramme the computer... will a technician know?? That is If I reprogramme to stock before service; does the programmer leave any kind of evidence of reprogramming?
Thanks

Some say yes.
Some say no.
I do know that if you plan to take it to the dealer, you should remove the program at least a week before to allow for the truck to reprogram itself, and go through a drive cycle.
I don't worry about it for my truck. My dealer is pretty good about mods and doesn't blame a mod on something unrelated.
But if you fry the PCM, plan on paying out the bucks. And with what little I know about computers, I figure it doesn't take the brightest Tech to figure out that the PCM has been reprogramed.
Every computer leaves tiny little footprints.
Most of the people who have had a problem with their tuner, have had the PCM repaired, reflashed or replaced by the tuner company.
So I don't worry about it.
Good luck.
