Xcal 2 and Tires
Xcal 2 and Tires
I have a 98 F150 4x4.
Im looking to get some 33" tires with a torsion bar lift. Can I get upgraded tunes to fix the speedo and other things after making the upgrade?
For some reason I remember seeing somewhere that with a 98, you had to mechanically change the speedo gearing which I dont want to do. Half the reason I got the Xcal 2 was to be able to calibrate it with the 33's, now I started to find out I might not be able to?
Can Troyer tune my Xcal 2 on my 98 4x4 to have everything work with 33"s?

I already have the Xcal 2. I just want the speedo adjusted if I do get 33's
with the xcal2 and some tunes, when you go to load the tune you have the option to modify driving parameters--one of which is your tire revs/mile-
but, as you mentioned- if the truck's speedo is mechanical, and not an electronic function, then modifying the tire parameter wont do anything- hence the call to Troyer Perf.

Your right, you cannot recallibrate the speedo with the Xcal. You have to get a new VSS gear, or whatever they are called.... Your dealer should be able to get you the right one and install it...
Recalibrating the speedometer via tuning changes can be done only in the 1999 & newer F-150's - for the 1997 & 1998 models, you need to change the speedo gear in the tailshaft of the tranny, which is cheap & easy to do.
