Computer Code
Computer Code
Okay, I think I found the computer code that Troyer needs for my '06 5.4L F250. It is SVR1. Does this sound right to anyone? Does anyone else have this code? I know the code is the right combination of letters and numbers.
Could someone explain this computer code to me. I've recently purchased an '06 F150 Screw and would like to order the tuning software/device from Troyer. Do I need it for an F150 or is the year good enough?
Thanks in advance.
Tom
Thanks in advance.

Two different '06s might or might not have different codes. The only way to be 100% sure is to look. This will help.

HI Tom,
No, the model year is not enough, and here's why - the F-150 is unlike any other vehicle made, in that it has hundreds of different PCM codes each model year alone - so to tune them properly, we have to tune each vehicle according to it's exact PCM revision. Other vehicles will have several or maybe a dozen or two different strategies each model year - the F-150 has FAR more each and every model year, so this is very important, but luckily, easy to determine.
On the typical "off the shelf" units, they do something like that only it's in the background, where you cannot see it - the problem is, they only do a 5-digit strategy match instead of matching all 7 digits properly, as well as none of them having tuning that goes into the depth that ours does.
It's easy to find your code - in the 1997 & newer F-150's just open the front door on the passenger side, and look in the front part of the door frame for a sticker that has 3 letters and one number - like TEM7, or BKP1, etc - there are many different codes, but always in that same format.
You can also find this code in the 2004 & newer F-150's in another location by simply opening the hood, and looking on the PCM itself - it's at the top of the firewall, just left of center, and will have 3 wiring harness connections coming out of the front of it - then usually on the right side there will be a sticker with this same info.
Now if worst comes to worst, we will simply send out a blank tuner so you can actually plug it in and read your strategy and give us that info, and we simply email you the finished tunes - we do that in many cases anyway, as a lot of these trucks have been reflashed (had their PCM's updated to a different strategy) without their knowledge at the dealership prior to original delivery, or even before they left the factory.
So the bottom line is, if you can't find it, or if when we get that info we feel there is a good chance it may have been reflashed, we'll just send you the unit blank so you can simply plug it in, push a couple of buttons and KNOW what the PCM's strategy is for sure - and then we just email the tunes to you -so there is always a pretty easy solution for this, don't worry!
