Moonshine Runner?

Here's a question for 'ya Mike Troyer. I just bought a new '06 with the 5.4L FFV (hence the moonshine reference!) Now that I've sat and stared at it in the driveway for a couple of days it's time to get started with the mods. Already ordered the Corsa cat backs and am now looking for a chip/programmer, as well as an intake. Your tunes seem to come highly recommended (to say the least!) so I figured you'd have an answer. Does your tuning have any effect on the FFV programming and are there any negatives? Are there any warranty issues? The guy I talked to at one of your competitors was, well, let's just say less-than-confidence-inspiring. His reply was something like 'Uhh, I ain't never hearda no such problem'. Guess it's hard to find good help these days.
Thanks in advance for your and anyone else's reply.

Hi TenX,

First, no, our tuning does not have any effect on your vehicle's ability to still run flex fuels - that capability is fully retained on all of the Job 2 2006 F-150's that are FFV's, so no problem there.

That's pretty funny, a moonshiner.

Actually, the E85 fuel, which is 15% gasoline, is not 100% ethanol simply so that the vehicle can start up reliably - ethanol alone does not have enough cold start volatility to start the engine. This is also what you see nitro-burning dragsters squirt into their injector hat when they first them up, a mixture of gasoline & alcohol.

With regard to warranty, by law the automaker has to show that whatever modification you did was the actual cause of a failure to be able to legally deny your warranty. That's the law, and it falls under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty ct, which you can read up on at www.sema.org - that having been said, it's really up to each individual service manager's discretion, as they have no way of knowing whose tuning is safe and whose is not - that is really a matter of the reputation of the tuner, and in that area, we are unparalleled, as nobody else has the sheer amount of tuning R&D that we do in this specific vehicle platform, which is why we have the reputation here that you see. The bottom line is, nothing in our tuning is going to harm that vehicle.

I hope that answers your questions, & please feel free to call us at our number listed below to go over any other details - and good luck with your new truck!
