Hey Mike!!!!
Hey Mike!!!!
HI!... Just wanted to let you know and anyone else thats interested that I got the truck down to the dyno shop on SAT and got all the data logging done that you need for my tuning. Made out pretty well with 354RWH.P and 391RWTQ. These are SAE #'s. JOEL the owner of the dyno will be sending you the data logging files on MONDAY or TUESDAY so you know. I probably won't be able to touch base with you for about a week or so over the phone due to I'm starting a huge construction job this weeks and will be up at ST. THOMAS for the WINDSOR SHOOTOUT event. Either way I'll get a hold of you somehow. Just thought you would like to know the #'s. BTW for anyone else wondering, this was on a N/A built 5.4 with 8:1 compression.
Hi Neal,
EXCELLENT!!
That's about what I figure it would make, and no wonder you put a serious hurting on that Lightning you just ran.
Your peak HP is nothing short of excellent for that combination, especially with just 8.5:1 compression and no nitrous, no supercharger, just naturally aspirated at very low compression.
Congratulations!

HI!... Thanks Mike : Hopefully after you get done doing "YOUR THING" with the data logging we can hit 365RWH.P/400RWTQ. LOL! As soon as we get the new tunes in I'll be heading to the dragstrip to see what she can do.
Hey Mike, Could you please explain to me about the hp gains. I understand a stock 5.4, 3v has 300 hp and 365 tq at the crank. The rwhp would obviously be much less than 300 hp, probably in the mid 200's I would guess. Are you guys saying that he went from the mid 200's to the mid 300's in rwhp? If so, what mods were necessary to accomplish this? Was it just the TP Tune or were there other mods involved that increased the hp?

HI!... Lakeport Loafer : I'm running a "99" 5.4, 2-VALVE ENGINE, not a 3-valve. My truck made around 192RWH.P when it was bone stock. Engine was rated at 260H.P at the flywheel. It's current 354RWH.P translates into about 425H.P at the flywheel. That's a 165H.P (flywheel) increase over stock. Too many mods to list here.

Hey Neal,
I've read a ton of your threads and next to Mike, consider you one of the top guys in terms of "knowing your stuff" when it comes to engines and performance machines.
If you had a new body style F150, 3V 5.4 V8, 3.73LS, 4WD, Supercrew; what would you do to up performance, short of throwing on a roots style supercharger and spending $10,000+ on mods?
I'm interested in hearing what you think you'd do with that truck.
Thanks again and congrats on having a flat out awesome machine.
Thanks,
Duke

HI!... DUKE : I would start off with one of MIKE T's tunes. Then :
- FIPK
- EXHAUST
- ELECTRIC FANS
- UNDERDRIVE PULLEYS
- Then get more serious like stage II or III heads and cams.

HI!... Well I went to the WINDSOR SHOOTOUT this weekend at ST. THOMAS DRAGWAY. Wasn't planning on running just watching. Well peer pressure came into play and I got convinced into running the truck. No race fuel, no tune, no slicks, and a full tank of 94 and I still managed a 13.60E.T with tire spin. Sorry about no 60FT time. They were having problems with the timing lights. I did manage a few 1.80 60FT's in the other lane. Not bad............
HI!... MIKE : Ya we definately have to work on the tune. We found on the dyno that the knock sensor pulled out something like 6-8 degree's. Then we thought it might be my sold motor mounts causing vibration to be transferred to the block. We went to disconnect the rods and heim joints and found that one of the heim joints has snapped off and was vibrating against the engines timing chain cover. After we removed the mounts the knock sensor basically went dead but something else is still pulling a few degree's out. One of your "SAFE" for NEAL back up's I suppose! LOL!
I should of run faster with more MPH in the trap speed but for some reason the new tranny is causing the engine to bog down just after the 2ND to 3RD gear WOT upshift. I'm wondering if the TQ converter is locking up now right at the shift? It most definately does not pull as hard in 3RD gear now as it did with the old tranny. I strongly believe there is a 13.2 - 13.3 E.T in it once you get it tuned and I figure out some suspension issues.
