Mass Air Flow Sensor
i bought 90mm lighting maf but havent installed it yet unless you have some good mods on your truck your stock one will be fine(im installing 24lb injectors new coil packs and retuning my chip for the 90mm maf)
Hi Matt,
We do not recommend upgrading the MAF meter until it is actually necessary -for example, the 1999-2003 5.4 F-150 uses an 80mm MAF meter right from the factory, and it's good for an easy 320+ HP.
What we generally recommend is to upgrade the MAF meter at the same time you upgrade the fuel injectors & fuel pump - the fuel injectors need replacement at about 310 HP in these trucks (and that's at the flywheel, not the rear wheels), and it's at that pint that you can start to see some benefit from upgrading to the 90mm MAF. And don't spend big $$$ on any aftermarket MAF meter, simply have us supply you with the Ford 90mm unit and reducer to mate to your intake setup, it's much cheaper and you get more benefit than buying an aftermarket unit, and it's much cheaper.
I would suggest giving us a call so we can go over this with you in proper detail, discuss what mods you have on your truck now, and what mods really should be considered next from whatever point your ruck is at right now - we're happy to help, and our number is listed below.
Thanks for your post, & good luck with your truck!
